Oops, I haven’t updated my own blog now in a few weeks! Guess I’ve been busy researching and writing (and snapping photos on my iPhone, applying filters and sharing on Instagram)!

What have I been up to? Well, continuing in my tradition of 26 Tips, A-Z Guides, my seventh post in the series, 26 Tips for Adding Customer Service to Your Social Media Strategy, was published on Social Media Examiner on June 1st.

This past month, I’ve also had four additional posts published on GigCoin’s blog on a variety of social media topics: optimizing video on YouTube, lead generation, viral effect of video ads, creating new business opportunities.

Getting the Most Bang for Your Buck with an Integrated Social Media Campaign

It seems as if everybody and their sister are creating social media campaigns for their business nowadays, but not everyone knows how to make multiple presences work together. In my recent post on GigCoin’s blog “Driving Traffic and Engaging Users with an Integrated Social Media Campaign“,  I spoke with representatives from six businesses who shared details about their successful campaigns.

Social Media Marketing: Thoughts on Video, Social Buttons and SEO

Over the past several weeks I’ve written a few new posts on GigCoin’s blog about how video matters for social media marketing, the use of social buttons on websites and which sites work best for SEO.

Over the past several weeks I’ve written a few new posts on GigCoin’s blog about how video matters for social media marketing, the use of social buttons on websites and which sites work best for SEO.

As the use of social media becomes more widespread and commonplace, we’re starting to see a change in post topics. For awhile there was a need to write convincingly about why social media was a valid choice for businesses of all sizes. Now the posts assume higher involvement and the issues are more about standards and good practices.

The Role of Video for Social Media Marketers

My sixth “26 Tips” A-Z Guide was published on Social Media Examiner this week. The topic is on using video to connect with customers. There’s been great discussion with an enthusiastic community on Social Media Examiner.

I was also very interested to hear the results of Social Media Examiner’s 2011 Social Media Marketing Industry Report yesterday which says that the #1 top area of focus for marketers in 2011 is YouTube and Video. Facebook is #2!

As for the post:
Are you using video to connect with customers and prospects?  Videos will enhance client communication and collaboration, and help support and drive new business.

Lessons Learned: Growing a Fan Base on Facebook and Crafting Social Media Promotions

Every Tuesday for the past several months I’ve been publishing posts on GigCoin’s blog. Two recent posts are:
The Art & Science of Growing a Fan Base on Facebook and How To: Craft Social Media Promotions that Stand Out in the Crowd.

For both of these posts a number of business people contributed to the pieces through queries I made on HARO, Help a Reporter Out. Their experiences  have been invaluable. If you haven’t used HARO, I recommend it highly. Check out the posts on GigCoin.

The post on Tuesday, April 5th is on Social Media Metrics. Stay tuned!

Creating Art with the Brushes App

The first time I saw the New Yorker cover by Jorge Colombo that he painted with the tip of his finger by using the brushes app on his iPhone, I was awestruck. Completely. As time has gone on, other artists have followed in Colombo finger-prints, as the case may be.

David Hockney, one of my favorite artists, has also created covers for the magazine and a whole host of artists have been sharing their brushes work on Flickr. Some have created their paintings on iPhones and iPod Touches and others have used their iPads. In this recent post I did for WebDesigner Depot, I had the distinct pleasure of selecting works to display in the post. It’s hard to have a favorite, each are magnificent and if you didn’t know they were created on these devices with the use of a $4.99 app, you’d likely think they were painted on canvases with a variety of different media.

3 Blog Posts: LinkedIn, Facebook & Lead Generation

Since my last post I’ve had three new posts go live on other blogs. These were all great fun to write.

Doing research about Starbucks for the Change the World.me post forced me to go to Starbucks, sit awhile and have a latte. It’s a tough job but hey, someone had to do it. I also had an opportunity to have contact with Stephen Gillett CIO, EVP Digital Ventures at Starbucks.
The Starbucks Experience: 19,000,000 Likes on Facebook and Counting

The LinkedIn post on GigCoin was another great experience crowdsourcing pitches from HARO. Again phenomenal response to my query and I met some great people through the process.

LinkenIn Company Page: An Intrinsic Component of Social Media Marketing

The post on Social Media Examiner was now the 5th in my series on 26 Ways, A-Z Guide. This one on Lead Generation. The posts at Social Media Examiner are great fun and the conversation quite rich.

26 Ways to Use Social Media for Lead Generation

All in all, a good week on the blogging front!
